Description
This book is the result of a two month collaboration between Victor Stabin and the fifth through eighth grade students and faculty at The Hillside School. This unique ABC book was inspired by Mr. StabinÕs own Daedel Doodles.
The Hillside School is the only independent day school in the Lehigh Valley dedicated to educating children in kindergarten through eighth grade who have been diagnosed with language-based learning disabilities. Reading and writing typically provide a consistent challenge for many of the students at Hillside. This cross curricular activity involving language arts and visual arts demonstrate the persistence and determination with which our students approach new learning experiences.
Pairs of students were assigned a letter of the alphabet and a dictionary. Through reading and rereading the dictionary entries for their assigned letters, students were tasked with generating a list of twenty unfamiliar words and their respective definitions.
