The Environmental Information Management Conference 2011 provided a cross-disciplinary forum for information managers, computing researchers, software developers, and environmental scientists interested in technologies that enable data collection, description, curation, discovery, access, integration and analysis in all disciplines of environmental research. Participants from throughout the world convened in Santa Barbara, California to showcase advances that cross computing, environmental science, and informatics disciplines. This proceedings volume contains 25 contributed papers and the abstracts of 20 contributed posters that together were the core of the informatics advances presented at the conference.
