The contents of this version is printed in black and white. It is dedicated to the lives and descendant families of Ira & Mintia Gunnels married in western Douglas County, a few miles west of the county seat of Ava. The first part of the book focuses on the couple’s marriage, parents and siblings. The reader should note that this is not a traditional family history book that attempts to trace a family back as far as possible. Instead this is called a “family book” that starts with the lives of Ira & Mintia and traces their descendants forward to the present time. While the tells the reader about Ira & Mintia, the book focuses even more on their four children and their 20 grandchildren. The book contains over 400 photos. We hope members of our Hartley family and many more who have an interest in Douglas County and the Hartley and Gunnels lines will enjoy it.
