Description
Architectural practice, narrowly defined, does not necessarily reflect the entire range of what architects are capable of doing. Why would we not investigate other ways to use our strengths? This book is part of an effort to do just that. This five-volume series documents the first year of the Alternative Practices sequence in the IE University Undergraduate Architecture program. This semester-long sequence takes place in the first semester of our studentsÕ fifth, and final, year of undergraduate study. The students participate in five sequential courses, one at a time, each of them dealing with a different sphere of design practice: Landscape and Environment; Management and Entrepreneurship; Digital Studies; The City; and Design. These intense, three-week long studio-based classes introduce our students to new ways of looking at the world, new questions, new tools, and, of course, a series of possible professional outlets.
