Historically, human culture valued the suppression of emotion, such expressions were largely considered to be a form of weakness. Our natural range of behavioural responses associated with emotions such as anxiety, sadness or enjoyment were removed from society via strict etiquette standards. Architecture, rooted in human event; therefore did not offer humanity with spaces conducive to emotional expression.
