It’s easy to become jaded about the classic comics of the 1940s and 1950s. So many of them were high-quality, excellent examples of the work of the day. Every now and then a book came along that broke from the norm, and the short St. John’s series officially just called ADVENTURES was that kind of book. It contains superior stories and art, controversial storylines, but also full bleed pages and amazing two-page spreads that simply were not often done Ð and almost never with this kind of artistry. The first issue was called ADVENTURES IN ROMANCE, the second was SPECTACULAR ADVENTURES. The general theme was the interplay between man and woman, but the adventures, action and sexuality is woven throughout. The original two-issue series would cost up to $1000 today….but here you can read and enjoy this masterpiece for a fraction of a fraction of that!
