Sam was a soldier in the early post-American Revolutionary army, killed in battle, but instead of passing on he was detained by a mysterious force, who told him he would become the country’s hero and symbol. When the country needed him, UNCLE SAM (accompanied by his sidekick Buddy) fought to protect her people, her shores, and her ideals. Uncle Sam was produced by such Golden Age masters as jack Cole, Lou Fine, and Will Eisner, among others Ð a treasure form the past.
