Horst Freiherr Treusch von Buttlar-Brandenfels served
during the First World War of 1914-1918, commanding Zeppelin airships L6, L11, L30, L25, L54 and L72. A
veteran of a number or air raids on Great Britain, he was awarded Germany’s highest honour during the
conflict, the Pour le MŽrite.

His autobiography on his airship service both before and during World War One, Zeppeline gegen England, was published in 1931, and subsequently translated into English that same year and republished as Zeppelins Over England.
