Description

Michel Corrette (1707Ð1795), born in Rouen, moved to Paris where he _had a long, very active musical _career. A prolific composer, he wrote many _stage works, con_certos, chamber music, and organ pieces, _along with _sacred vocal works. Corrette also organized concerts and published his _own _music and that of _others. He wrote almost twenty method books for various instruments, which are an important source of _information about __18th _century instrumental techniques.
Corrette published these pieces in __1734. There are four suites that include the traditional dances (allemande, __gigue, etc.) as well as pieces with evocative _titles in the fashion popular_ized by Franois Couperin, along _with some that _show Italian influence. Although Corrette is not as well known as some __other French _Baroque composers, the music in this collection is attractive and deserves attention from players today. It _is generally not difficult, _making it accessi_ble to most keyboardists._
