Volume one ends with Johanna (Verbrugge) Vriens getting remarried about the time Cornelia was roughly 16 years old. Cornelia didnÕt like the man and there is some discussion of that. This volume picks up from that point.
It talks about Holland mobilizing for war in 1916. There are MomÕs memories of being a small child.
There is a time when my grandfather goes bankrupt. Some discussion about how the rest of the family helped and did not help them. They were hungry.
Some of this is from stories Grandma Vreins told my mother.
