Description
Daniel Stephenson and his wife, Mary Ellen (Dodson) were early settlers and antislavery residents of Fairfield, Iowa. Daniel was a wool weaver in the 1850s in New York, Canada, and Ohio, weaving carpets and coverlets on a Jacquard loom. Many of his beautiful coverlets are extant today.
