Medical Translation: Importance and Real-World Applications

This book examines translation practices in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors. With a focus on validation and quality, it discusses a potential gap between translation theory, best practice and what is actually happening in the translation industry with respect to providing product information translations in these sectors. Examples are offered from my own experiences, those of other translators and evidence from research. I discuss partnering with translation agencies, I present a guide to establishing a pool of translators and reviewers and I end by raising a number of points regarding translating product information in languages outside of the European Union, where expertise and insights become rarer.
