These Mennonite Memoirs are tales of my ancestors. I always knew that I was privileged to grow up in Canada in peaceful and plentiful times. The following history (with some fictional elements) has been based on the autobiography of Cornelious (Knals) Plett Senior, Abraham Toews, Agnes Theissen (born Unger), the compiled writings of the Unger children, and three novels by Carol Flett (based on her motherÕs (Susie PlettÕs) stories. Historical documentation and facts, as well as, other Mennonite stories have been used to fill out the narrative and follow my ancestorsÕ journey through persecution throughout Europe, forced labour, prejudice, revolution, multiple wars, imprisonment, starvation, violence, and incredible lossÉ
