Description
Leila M. Wells began writing her reminiscences of the Adirondacks late in life. At the age of 90 she published her first book describing her life as a child and young woman living in the Adirondacks. Two additional books soon followed. Her writing is filled with imagery from her childhood: a visit to her Grandfather’s homestead; shopping at the local country store; childhood games; attending school and later as a teacher. She was active through her long life, enjoying quilting, writing and cooking. She died at the age of 104.
Sister Mary Felicitas, R.S.M., was Leila Wells’ daughter, an artist in her own right. During her life as a nun she found the time to continue her own artwork, most notably illustrating her mother’s works.
