Description
The author describes his recovery from a 44 year addiction to alcohol. He writes of the misfortunate incident at his newfound church at age 15, when a young girl fell off his shoulders when she was getting a bucking bronco ride.
The harsh indirect words of the girl’s female guardian shames the young boy into quitting his recent practice of church attendance and participation. The journal then documents his following 4 decades of life, culminating with his return to Olivet Baptist Church in Moiliili, Hawaii.
Within the narrative are Taba’s understanding of the ingenious perception of many people, from the well-known philosophers to the most humble dental hygienist. The point is, wisdom is to be uncovered from many, many sources; one need only be willing to learn.
