Description
Doon the Watter is the result of a series of walks and explorations undertaken by the author along the old Alloway to Girvan railway line, in south west Scotland, over a seven month period from January to July 2024.
The route taken was twenty miles in length from Alloway Junction, south of Ayr station, to Girvan harbour.
By way of further context, the author’s first name, Craig, is taken from Ailsa Craig, the dormant, iconic volcanic island in the Firth of Clyde and a distant relative, George Bradshaw, invented the railway timetable in the 1800s.
