Description
This thesis is an solid advance in the formulation and technical reification of the ASys Principles of model-based self-cognition. It provides both theoretical models and technical assets for having systems self-handle at run-time for attaining robust autonomy. For that purpose, the work has focused on the biologically inspired capability of self-awareness, and has explored the possibilities to embed it into the very architecture of software-intensive control systems. The proposed approach goes beyond the customary applications in mobile robotics into the deep waters of autonomous systems domain engineering. A necessary technology for the machines of the future.
