Description

This book follows the lives of three generations of the John Woodard family. John Woodard (1781-1866), was the owner of WoodardÕs Boot Shop on the town square in Wells, England. His family lived in the times of cholera outbreaks and workhouses. JohnÕs son, James Woodard (1810-1890), followed in his fatherÕs footsteps and became a shoe maker but the similarity ends there. James left the city of his youth, his father, his siblings, and all that he knew behind and immigrated to a small village in northern Ohio. JamesÕ son, James Franklin Woodard (1859-1929) also did not stay in one place. He moved to Colorado in about 1874 while in his early teens when the west was still being settled. Frank was a cowboy, a buffalo hunter for the railroad and later a politician and ranch owner.
