Description
This is the story of two people who have lived through good times and bad in a world that changed tremendously from the time of their earliest memories until today. Their memories cover the Great Depression, World War II, and daily life in a time before refrigerators, television, supermarkets, cell phones and the Internet. Esther and Norman Bolker told their own stories in videotaped interviews made in January 2008, when Esther was 86 and Norman was 91. The interviews were conducted in their home in Corvallis, Oregon, by a trained oral historian. Additional material comes from NormanÕs autobiography, written in 1996. These materials have been combined to provide a more complete story and edited by their eldest daughter, who tried as much as possible to let her parents tell their stories in their own words.
