Description
From 1921-1959 TILLIE THE TOILER was a popular comic strip in American newspapers. It told the story of TILLIE JONES, a beautiful, well-dressed young woman who worked (usually) for J. Simpkins clothing company. She often got fired for one reason or another, and even did a stint in the army during World War Two. She was always pursued by a collection of eligible young bachelors, but one sad-sack type suitor, ÒMac,Ó adored Tillie, although those feelings were seldom fully returned Ð a tragic love trapezoid. TILLIE was inspiration for a couple ealy movies, including a 1927 silent film and a 1941 Òtalkie.Ó Of course, her strips made their way to the comic books, with a 14-issue stint in the Dell Four Color series. The issues contain reprints of the newspaper strips for the first four issues (Volume 1) before beginning original stories with the sixth issue.
This book contains Dell Four-Color #8, 22, 55, and 89.
