Grandmother Turtle Land was inspired by a desire to share the Creation stories of Lakota people while eliminating the effects of neo-coloniality. It is a vision for women and non-binary people, of Indigenous descent and of all ages, to share and pursue study of our natural world and the ancestors (along with their respective practices). A guide for conservation of our global world and social change through the modeling of more inclusive and sustainable relationships among people and with the earth.

May this story engage intergenerational connection, sparks conversations necessary for transformation of reified and ultimately divisive systems, and empower change makers seeking to shift power toward gender liberation for all peoples.

The Creation of Grandmother Turtle Land features Grandmother Turtle, who appeared with her wisdom and vision to revive a world divided by sadness and pain. This Indigenous Creation tale restores the strength of the matriarch as Grandmother TurtleÕs journey allows her to courageously share a world prayer for connection and love. This book pairs well with teaching the social skill of ÒAsking for HelpÓ and integrates the 12 Lakota Virtues.
