Description
This book was written and created by High Tech High students in 11th and 12th grade to teach about the ecology and history of the San Diego bay. The purpose of this book is to help young children learn the bayÕs history and what keeps it healthy. To learn about the ecological and economical changes that the bay has gone through, we researched everything from World War II to the San Diego tuna industry. Additionally, we went to yacht clubs around the bay to collect water quality data and check in on the health of our native oysters to see the ecological health of the bay first hand. In this book, we explore the connections we found between economy and ecology in the San Diego bay in a manner that is engaging and educational for children. Each chapter includes a short story inspired by our research, and activities for children to complete. Pro tip: make photocopies of the blank pages so you can do the activities more than once!
