Walter spent much of his working life as a brewer and then as licensee of a public house “Halfway House” in Littleham Cross, Devon.
The diaries provide a fascinating insight into the life of a very colourful character striving to make a living whilst trying to understand the “Object of Life” and “Philosophy of Life” as revealed in his essays.
